Brief History
Magnum’s origins date back to the early 80’s in the McConville family’s garage in Marietta. Mike McConville loved cars and spent a great deal of his time "modifying” his earliest personal vehicles in (father) Jim’s garage. While still in high school, Mike was learning and applying the fundamentals that would form the foundation of his lifetime avocation. With family approval Mike and a partner leased some commercial space and "gave it a go”. Jim kept his day job in Sales & Marketing.
From the beginning, "Magnum” did very high quality work for a small number of customers. And so it was…. for a time. Magnum continued to do quality work and, over time, went from very small to larger volumes, holding the line on quality. The initial focus was on higher-end cars but, as time went on, Magnum began to gain a solid reputation for consistent quality work, and the makes and models became all-inclusive. In 1990 we built our own shop, situated at Delk and Hwy 41. During that time frame, Jim’s previous employer was concurrently sold, and he joined Magnum on a full time basis, in the administrative area. Magnum grew at a substantial pace, expanding and building a larger facility at our current location in May 1998. We then expanded again in 2002, adding the adjacent acreage, while designing and building one of the finest paint shops in the country and then in 2008 by adding a new domestic body and paint facility. We currently occupy three buildings on approximately one six acre and one seven acre lot, with approximately 65,000 sq. feet of production. Magnum is now populated by more than ninety dedicated and skilled people who share the vision and principles of Mike and Jim McConville. Quality, honesty, service and integrity remain inviolable principles throughout our history, and will forever remain so.
And our story continues! In January 2008 Magnum began construction on a 25,000 sq. foot expansion of our business, situated on approximately 7 acres this building will house the personnel and equipment designed to repair our larger vehicles, such as SUV's and light trucks. It will afford us the opportunity to better focus our technicians' skill set by separating the work to be done. To 'fish where the fish are', so to speak. It will also allow us to do some much needed house keeping in our primary facility. Over the coming months we plan to dramatically improve the way our shop looks to our customers, our business partners and to our own employees. We will add more work space, more lighting, more offices, more safety features, more improvements over all, designed to better serve our customers. Magnum has a long term commitment to keep our service, our quality, our people and our environment at the highest possible standards. We always have and always will.
